It was really nice attending the opening of the new UKS at Keysers gate 1. Rough space… i understand there is more development to happen in there. But I hope not too much. I like the industrial, rough underground feel. Nice to not have a another white box. Erling said this place used to be a theatre called Edderkoppen. Here and there you see remainders of old wall paintings of spiderwebs.

A lot of the Oslo art scene was there. Cozy to meet so many familiar and friendly faces. Been having a lot of really nice conversations, today and yesterday at LNMs opening, which I worked. Spoke with P about pressure for big outcomes, energy, what it’s like to work with big institutions, and how confronting it is to realize that anger (an important emotion to tap into especially to be able to stand up for oneself) is often difficult to access for artists with marginalized backgrounds. Not everyone can afford to be angry. Showing anger is not always safe, in fact it can be dangerous if you lack other currencies.

She had a recent confrontation with this, and so had I. These are valuable learning experiences, and opportunities for growth. But this growth (learning to access anger) comes at an additional cost… energy. This is energy we need to expend just to start at the same place as another.
